One dies at Medan Air Show

MEDAN, WOL – One of several visitors injured in an incident at the Medan Air Show died after undergoing intensive medical treatment at the Siloam Hospital in the city on Sunday.

Major Jhoni Tarigan, spokesman for the Soewondo Air Base where the event took place, confirmed that Ali Imran (53), a Medan resident, died at the hospital. “The airbase family is very sorry and has conveyed their condolences to the victim’s family,” he said.

Jhoni said the Air Force would help the victim’s family until the deceased’s funeral although the committee should be held responsible for the incident.

Ali was one of several visitors who were seriously hurt when a participant lost his balance and fell to the ground as he took part in a demonstration at the event.

The event, which began on Thursday (May 7) with participants from numerous countries, including the United States, Singapore and Germany, ended on Sunday (May 10) evening.
