ALIAN NAFIAH SIREGARWASPADA ONLINE MEDAN - The intellectual perpetrators of unrest occured in provincial House's (DPRDSU) office to insist establishment of Tapanuli province separated (Protap) from North Sumatra, GM Chandra Panggabean reportedly Wednesday (Dec.2) sentenced to twelve years in prison by Medan district court. In the court session, prosecutor Amlizar Tahar had demanded the court sentence Panggabean for violating Article 340 (1) and Article 55 (1) of Criminal Code.The prosecutor blamed the defendant for orchestrating the Feb. 3 mass protest followed petition approval delay by former DPRDSU chairman Abdul Aziz Angkat. "According to witnesses' testimony presented altogether with Protap committee, the defendant along with other demonstrators involved in pushing security officers at the gate of the council building. As the protesters outnumbered the guards, they managed to enter the plenary hall by breaking the gate," Amlizar said here Wednesday (Dec.2). The protesters became angry because the council rejected their demands and they mobbed and beat the council speaker, Abdul Aziz that made him died on the way to hospital. The judge halt the court session untill Friday (Dec.4) in order to hear defendant's lawyer's rejection. Chandra was brought back into Notrth Sumatera police headquarter's jail.
