MEDAN - Polonia airport operator company Angkasa Pura II pledges to fix access roads - between Jalan Mustang road and Jalan Imam Bonjol road.

In Angkasa Pura II Bram Bharoto Tjiptadi's report, the project only left to asphalt these access roads. "At least, the access road will be opened for public by this June," he said.

North Sumatra Senator Parlindungan Purba deems Polonia's downgrading quality and service is indicating that government must speed up new airport project at Kuala Namu, Deli Serdang regency.

"Polonia has given up to serve increasing travelers who depart or visit the province," Parlindungan said.

However, University of Sumatera Utara's analyst Jhon Tafbu Ritonga criticizes lack attention paid to Polonia, in comparison with new airport at Kuala Namu. "Polonia airport should be operated accordingly with its International class," said Jhon.

"Comparing with International airports in Malaysia, Polonia is far left behind," Jhon said, as quoted by Waspada Online here on Thursday.

State airport operator company PT Angkasa Pura very likely facing dilemma whether or not upgrading Polonia amid pressure to realize new airport in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra, said he.

"Anyway, Angkasa Pura may not be apathetic about this issue. Public in North Sumatra still needs Polonia for accomadating air transportation," Jhon said.
