MEDAN - Despite North Sumatra gubernatorial office has approved new Tapanuli province proposal, a number of local people protest the policy.

Sibolga-Central Tapanuli Caucus Chairman Radjoki Nainggolan said his side will submit protest letter to the House of Representatives and President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

"We dislike the idea of Tapanuli province since it uses christian cross and traditional house for Protap (or Tapanuli province). Of course, that irritate us, moslem people in Sibolga," said Radjoki.

Sibolga regency is included in the new province of regional division demand, along with other two proposals. Besides Protap, the Legislative Council also approve Southeast Sumatra province and the Nias islands province.

North Sumatra regional division team said the approval is achieved in a plenary meeting held by Legislative Assembly.
