BOGOR, W JAVA - The central government has named 23 regions including three provinces, 10 districts and 10 cities, as regions with the best performance nationally, in accordance with the regional administration implementation performance evaluation (EKPPD) 2009.
The announcement about the 23 regions with the best performance was made in the event to commemorate the 15th Anniversary of the Autonomy Day in Bogor, Monday.
The event was attended among others by Vice President Boediono, Home Affairs Minister Gamawan Fauzi, a number of governors, district heads and mayors.
The three provinces receiving the highest rank nationally are North Sulawesi, South Sulawesi and Central Java.
The 10 winning districts are Jombang, Bojonegoro (East Java Province), Sragen, Pacitan (Central Java), Boalemo (Gorontalo), Enrekang (South Sulawesi), Buleleng (Bali), Luwu Utara (South Sulawesi), Karanganyar (Central Java), and Kulonprogo (Yogyakarta).
While, the 10 cities are Surakarta, Semarang (Central Java), Banjar (West Java), Yogyakarya, Cimahi (West Java), Sawahlunto (West Sumatra), Probolinggo, Mojokerto (East Java), Sukabumi, and Bogor (West Java).
Vice President on the occasion expressed his appreciation to regional administrations which have won the best performance awards.
"Congratulations to the three governors, 10 district heads and 10 mayors. it's recognition for your performance in serving the public," he said.
The vice president said evaluation for the best performed regions is important and should be carried out annually.
He also called on the home affairs and finance ministers to consider giving incentives to the winners.
Boediono encouraged other regions to improve their performance and deliver better services to the public.
Among those attending the event were North Sulawesi Governor Sarundajang, South Sulawesi Governor Syahrul Y. Limpo, and Central Java Governor Bibit Waluyo, as well as Deputy West Java Governor Yusuf Effendi.
