WASPADA ONLINE JAKARTA - The General Election Supervisory body (or known as Bawaslu) and the Central Information Commission (KIP) reportedly Wednesday to cooperate in monitoring regional head elections or Pilkada in Indonesia. Both institutions have signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) deal with Pilkada supervision agreement. "By MoU signing, Bawaslu asks KIP to stress its role toward General Election Commission, in order to ease data gathering. KIP may mediate the Pilkada supervisory committee (Panwas) with KPU on condition that data gathering is hard to obtain," Nur Hidayat Sardini who represent Bawaslu in the MoU signing, said here Wednesday (Jul.14). The KIP was represented by the commission chairman Ahmad Alamsyah Saragih. According to Nur Hidayat, hard gathering on Pilkada information has been critical problem for the body. "To be honest, Panwas tends to get difficulties to find the date that support supervisory duty," he added. Speaking on the occasion, KIP chairman Ahmad said that Pilkada transparency could be measured through information openness for public. "It could be said this agreement will prevent Pilkada stages being objected because of information disclosure issues," Ahmad explained, adding that cooperation with Bawaslu should also be involved with the KPU.
